Trent Gudmundsen was born in 1978 in eastern Utah. By the time he was twelve, Gudmundsen already had a determination to make his life one of art. He would bring his easel out into the fields near his house to paint. He was lucky to gain some direction from landscape artist VaLoy Eaton, who helped Trent focus the direction of his passion for painting. Gudmundsen’s paintings could appear melancholy and lonely, but instead convey a sense of warmth using light and strong contrast. Although a young painter, his confident brushstroke is that of a much older and experienced painter. In 2003 Gudmundsen was selected for inclusion in Southwest Art’s “21 Under 31” article (Sept. 03 issue 2006), marking his official entry into the art world as an emerging artist. Trent has had many other honors including numerous gallery and museum shows.
